Sundsvall Gymnasium/Västermalm is an attractive and centrally located school; currently, over 1000 students have chosen to pursue their upper secondary education with us! At Sundsvall Gymnasium, there are two school libraries: one at Hedbergska School and one at Västermalm School.

At Västermalm High School, there are 8 upper secondary programs: the Natural Science Program, the Construction and Civil Engineering Program, the Vehicle Program, the Technology Program, the Industrial Technology Program, the Electrical and Energy Program, the Health and Social Care Program, and the International Baccalaureate! Västermalm also offers a high school engineering program. The Västermalm school unit also includes adapted upper secondary school and individual alternatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The library is centrally located in the heart of our school building! Next to the library are our cafeteria, administration, and classrooms. Together with us who work at Västermalm, you strive to create high-quality upper secondary education for our students based on your role as a librarian.

As a school librarian, your task is to continue building our library into a well-integrated part of the operation that supports learning and students' achievement. You are part of the school's pedagogical work. Together with your colleagues, you will also be expected to initiate projects related to the library's activities and actively follow developments in the field through continuous monitoring of the environment. Västermalm High School is an IB candidate school and strives to become certified as an International Baccalaureate Diploma School starting in 2025. The language of instruction is English, and the library is an important cog in providing students with good opportunities for higher education preparatory studies at the upper secondary level.

We communicate via V-class and in the Google environment. You actively participate in the school's joint systematic quality work and professional development. You work with a focus on students' achievement, in collaboration with school leadership and colleagues. Collaboration and planning with teachers and teaching teams regarding literature and media and information literacy (MIK) in regular teaching. Purchasing literature, journals, and databases, as well as being responsible for the digital and physical school library where reading, research, critical thinking, and creativity are central to teaching and learning. Working towards a study environment that is calm, safe, and inclusive. Responsible for routines and handling of the school's teaching materials regarding ordering, lending, and returning.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are primarily looking for someone with a university degree in library and information science.

We place great importance on personal qualities and value your ability to meet students based on their knowledge and needs. Experience working in school libraries, preferably at the upper secondary level, is advantageous! You have good knowledge of literature, high digital competence, and an interest in digital communication in various forms. Knowledge of cataloging is a plus.

Good language skills in both English and Swedish are advantageous. You who are applying are creative, knowledgeable, proactive, structured, and communicative. You have a good ability to collaborate and enjoy working both independently and together with others. You are a person with an interest and competence to drive development work. You are driven by creating good opportunities for our students to achieve their goals every day!
